Public rider information

Terms of use

Use Otranspo as independent supplemental information, and verify safety-critical decisions with the transit operator.

Independent service

Otranspo is an independent, citizen-led transit information project built for Ottawa–Gatineau riders. It is not affiliated with OC Transpo or STO, and it is not an official service of either operator or the City of Ottawa.

Scheduled and realtime information can be delayed, incomplete, cancelled, or unavailable. Never treat an unknown accessibility state as confirmation that a trip is accessible.

Safe use

Use official operator channels for emergencies, fares, service guarantees, eligibility decisions, complaints about an identifiable person, and time-critical accessible travel assistance.

Do not submit personal information about another person, unlawful content, harassment, executable files, or misleading reports.

Availability and changes

The service may remove a capability when its data source or safety controls cannot support a truthful result. A clear unavailable state is not a service guarantee.

Applicable provider terms and open-data licences continue to govern their data and map services.

Policy versions and material changes

The public policy register identifies the current source revision, human and legal review state, decision evidence, and whether notification is required. A draft revision does not imply counsel approval.

Google Maps comparison

Optional driving, walking, and cycling calculations are provided by Google Maps and remain separate from official transit results. Google’s current terms and privacy policy govern those calculations; attribution does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
