Otranspo separates authoritative provider data, derived calculations, and community reports.
Transit schedules, realtime information, and alerts
OC Transpo schedule and realtime data is obtained through its developer services. Official service updates are read from the operator’s published English and French feeds. STO schedules use its public GTFS archive, and its standard GTFS-RT vehicle, trip-update, and service-alert feeds are read through scoped developer access. Each operator’s availability is reported independently.
Maps and places
Transit geometry comes from the same imported GTFS feed used for schedules. Street-map tiles and geocoding are enabled only for a configured provider whose production use has been approved.
The cycling layer joins two official municipal sources while preserving jurisdiction: only City of Ottawa EXISTING segments and Ville de Gatineau T.Q.C (as-built) segments are drawn. Proposed, planning, incomplete, and construction records remain excluded. Gatineau district boundaries are official; Gatineau washrooms and drinking-water points are community-mapped OpenStreetMap evidence, explicitly not City-verified.
Map attribution remains visible in the interactive map. Otranspo does not cache third-party map tiles for offline use.
When explicitly requested in the trip planner, Google Maps Routes supplies driving, walking, and cycling estimates. Those estimates remain separate from official transit schedules, realtime data, alerts, and Otranspo routing results.
Weather
Weather-dependent routing or advice is not presented unless the configured Environment and Climate Change Canada source is current and its source label is visible.
City budget and financial results
Official transit budget figures come from City of Ottawa adopted budget books. Budget, actual, commitment and forecast values remain distinct and retain their fiscal year, unit, publication date and exact document or table source.
The adopted 2026 Transit Services operating table reports $937.808 million in gross expenditure, less $33.048 million in recoveries and allocations and $413.589 million in revenue, producing a $491.171 million net requirement. These City figures remain separate from Otranspo community scenario estimates.
The City’s March 31, 2026 results report $203.384 million in actual transit expenditures against a $206.072 million calendarized budget, $47.458 million in revenue against $57.305 million budgeted, and a $155.926 million net requirement against $148.767 million budgeted. The resulting $7.159 million Q1 deficit is a year-to-date variance, not a year-end forecast.
Census and population context
Aggregate population, age, language, income, housing, labour and commuting context comes from the Statistics Canada 2021 Census Profile and its official geographies. Otranspo preserves reference year, geography, data-quality notes, suppression and random-rounding limits.
The 2026 Census was collected in May 2026, but its first data releases begin in February 2027. Until official releases arrive, Otranspo continues to label the 2021 Census Profile as the current comprehensive census baseline.
Census aggregates may provide area context. Otranspo never infers a rider’s personal characteristics from a location or journey.
